Grab your loved ones and let's document how fun and crazy and gorgeous your family is! Family sessions are almost always done at a park, or open space, or any place that is special to your family. I am happy to meet you anywhere, and I can suggest great places based on the feel of the images that you are going for. Outdoor sessions are most always done in the hour and a half before sunset for best lighting.
A new favorite of mine is to do them in your home - just a chance to remember what life looked like in that place at that time! These sessions usually take place more in the middle of the day.
During a typical family session, I will do many photos of all of you, some of mom and dad, some of kids alone, and individuals of each child. I am happy to do any and every arrangement that you can think of! If you want to bring a change of clothes, I am great with that. A family session usually lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. I try to get a mix of fun photos, showing your loving interactions with each other, paired with more traditional ones where I will help pose you to look your best. Above all, I promise we will have fun, and there will be lots of laughter. :)
If you are uncertain about what to wear, I would love to help you out! Feel free to email me or call me if you have questions. I personally think lots of color is great, and anything that shows each persons individual personality. You can usually mix about 3 different colors, and even add a pattern or two in there. If you want an example of looking put together without looking uniform, I would be happy to email you my family photos from the past few years.
My editing style is very clean and true to color. The fads are constantly changing (with the Instagram filters!) but I want your photos to be timeless and not look dated in 5 years. I would describe my style as vibrant and colorful.
After the session, I will post a preview on my blog, which you can share with your friends and family. Within 1-2 weeks, I will email you an online gallery where you can view all your photos, purchase lab quality prints, and download your digital files. If you choose to make prints on your own, I highly suggest using mpix.com, a public division of my lab. It is a very quick, online service, and the quality of their images is far superior to any other public lab. I never pressure you to buy anything after your session, but am available anytime to help with any ordering of lab quality images or products.
Contact me today if there are any other questions I can answer for you, or if you would like to book a family session! I usually book sessions at least a month or more out (further in the late summer/fall), so plan ahead! :)
